Supported Family Class

All Children are Musical! Supportive Family Classes for Special Needs Families

Supportive family classes are for children with health challenges and developmental disabilities as well as their traditionally developing siblings and friends. These classes follow the same curriculum as our regular mixed-ages classes, but their relaxed pacing can make them ideal for children with special needs. Supportive family classes offer support and information that may be specifically helpful to parents and caregivers of children with special needs. They’re also a great support for siblings.

Families with children with special needs often find that Music Together® classes fill their need for a welcoming experience the whole family can enjoy. However, some families may find Supportive Family Classes to be a better fit. These classes are an extension of the Music Together® philosophy to accept and include all participants, regardless of any apparent ability or disability.

  • Class lead by Carol Ann Blank, Ph.D., LCAT, LPC, MT-BC
Manager of Research and Special Needs Services for Music Together Worldwide

  • Summer session is 8-weeks long and the classes are 30 minutes in length.

  • Families also receive unlimited makeups during the 8-week session, and while we don’t offer more than one Supportive Family class, it is still perfectly appropriate to join a Mixed Aged Music Together class as a make-up.

  • We will request that you fill out an information form in order for us to gain a better understanding of your child’s current developmental need areas. Answers to these questions will be taken into consideration when planning sessions to ensure a more productive, focused group.

Each family receives supporting materials at the beginning of each session which includes a songbook, CD set & code to access the Family Music Zone® and download the current collection of music onto the "Hello Everybody" Music Together app.

No classes are currently scheduled.
